I accompany BIPOC, neurodivergent, queer, and disabled children of immigrants, refugees, and undocumented people as they metabolize trauma and reconnect with their bodies and aliveness. To live with intergenerational and historic trauma, many of us disintegrate our wholeness to survive. This can manifest as numbing, dissociation, compartmentalization, and self betrayal for the sake of protecting our safety, belonging, and dignity. These moves are wise and protective — they helped us get to where we are now, but sometimes we need additional moves to continue becoming the people we intend to be. Just because you can handle the oppression that gets thrown your way doesn't mean you have to bear that burden alone.
